What shapes our reality? If you’ve ever felt like you’re stuck in a cycle of self-doubt, overworking, and still not seeing the results you crave, you’re not alone. The truth is, the story you tell yourself is shaping your reality more than you realize.

I recently went through a powerful experience that forced me to confront the limiting beliefs holding me back. As an entrepreneur, real estate developer, mother of three, and wife, I’ve learned firsthand how deeply our mindset impacts our outcomes.

The Story You Tell Yourself = The Life You Live

I read a lot about wealth-building and success psychology, and one of my favorite authors, Steve Siebold, emphasizes that 95% of your reality is determined by your mindset, beliefs, and self-image. That means your success is not just about strategy—it’s about how you see yourself.

Recently I hit a major milestone: completing a real estate development project that elevated my financial status. But instead of fully celebrating, I found myself grappling with upper-limit issues—a term coined by Gay Hendricks in The Big Leap.

Do I really deserve this success? It came too easily. I haven’t suffered enough for it.

Sound familiar? These are false stories we tell ourselves that keep us from stepping into our full power.

How Your Mind Creates Your Reality

Your mind is a powerful force. Here’s how it works:

  1. You hold a picture of yourself in your mind.
  2. That picture seeps into your subconscious and shapes your emotions.
  3. Emotions create your energy and vibration.
  4. Vibration influences your actions.
  5. Your actions create your reality.

And then? That reality reinforces the same old story. It’s an endless loop—unless you consciously break the cycle.

The Danger of Overworking and Self-Doubt

Because I let these limiting beliefs control me, I pushed myself harder. I need to work more. I’m not doing enough. The stress weakened my immune system, and I got severely ill. That forced me to stop.

And in that stillness, I had the realization: I am running on a false, outdated story about myself.

The truth? I am capable. I am deserving. I have built this life with my own efforts, and I am allowed to enjoy it.

How to Rewrite Your Story for Success

What shapes our reality? If you want different results, you must change the story in your head. Here’s how:

  1. Become aware of the story you’re telling yourself. Stop running on autopilot. Are you reinforcing self-doubt, or are you empowering yourself?
  2. Create a new, empowering story. Choose thoughts that align with the success and abundance you desire.
  3. Repeat it daily. Morning and night, write it out, visualize it, and speak it into existence.
  4. Feel the new reality before it manifests. Your subconscious needs to believe it before your life starts reflecting it.
  5. Trust the process. If nothing in your life has changed, the story in your mind hasn’t changed yet.
You Have the Power to Reprogram Yourself

What shapes our reality? Your thoughts are not set in stone. Just like a computer, you can rewrite your internal programming. But will you take control, or will you continue living on default mode?

Ambitious women, you can have it all. Success, joy, wealth, and ease are available to you. The only thing standing in your way is the story you tell yourself.
